Currents, 2026

Currents, an installation commissioned by Miami-Dade Art in Public Places, will explore and honor the history of the Saltwater Railroad—a network that led enslaved people to freedom through maritime escape routes during the 19th century. The artwork will not only reflect the courage and resilience of those who traveled these waters but also highlight Key Biscayne’s connection to this rich history. As a gateway to the Atlantic, the lighthouse at Bill Baggs State Park served as a point of passage toward liberation; moving a stream of enslaved lives into a new world.

Strange Celestial Road, 2026
